I Found Where My Home Is
I came from Lahore in Pakistan to Canada having billions of questions like "Which School am I going to go to?" or "Where will I live?" and "Will I have any friends like I did in Pakistan?"
When I first came to Sarnia, Ontario, I lived in small home that I made memories in, like playing video games with my friend all day and going to a big school called Errol Road. I had so many friends at school that I lost count of how many I had!
This year, I moved to a different city called Windsor. When I come home, my 4-year-old sister asks me to play with her. Meanwhile, my Mom is cooking Biryani and the delicious smell goes all around the house while I talk to her about my day. When all of that happens, my brother is playing with his blue robot toy.
Every year, I even put up decorations for Ramadan and Eid and then I fast for 30 days. When Ramadan ends, we eat delicious sweets like gulab jamun or barfi for Eid. The best part is getting Eidi when I get money from my parents and then getting to celebrate in my home with my family.
My home is like a big shield to help me feel better whenever I feel anxious or sad or when I haven’t had a good day at school. Home is a place where you have fun like having a movie night or when It’s playing video games with your friends. I’m grateful that I have a home and thanks to Habitat for Humanity for helping other people get homes.
So, in conclusion, home isn’t just a shelter. It is a place of memories, laughter, and celebrating my own culture.
