The Meaning of Home

Intro This story is about a little boy and the meaning of home. The little boy was an orphan. He did not know the true meaning of home. This is a story about how he learned the true meaning of home. ------- Urchin’s Walk was the dirtiest, smelliest alley in all of Meri Outpost. It gets its name from it being home to many orphans and people down on their luck. Now this boy lived here but to him it did not feel like home he didn’t really feel anything about it exactly. To him it was just the dirty alley he had woken up in one thousand mornings before and would still wake up to for the rest of his life. Until one night… After twelve years of going to sleep and waking up in the same place with the same smell and the same signs advertising whatever any of them had to sell: There was a new sign… this one spoke of a new building, an orphanage at that. It made him excited for the first time in his life. Here he felt safe and was cared for. Here he could take everything for granted yet he chose not to. Here he would be fed and sleep without worrying that someone may steal all his belongings. Here he finally felt the meaning of home.
