Home to me

Home to me is not simply a place, or a building. Home to me is a family, who loves and provides for me. As long as I'm with my family, I'm at home. Home is where I can fully express myself. It is where I feel I truly belong. Home is full of memories, the good and the bad. Good memories of my Mom, baking gingersnaps in the kitchen. Memories of birthdays, and the fun that they bring. And not so good memories, like broken bones and mourning losses of pets. And in all those memories, the good and the bad, you'll find my family, there for each other no matter what. Home to me isn't simply a feeling, but it brings me feelings. The feeling of love, when I snuggle my dog. The feeling of joy, when I finally get home after a long school day. And the feeling of peace, when I'm lying in my bed and listening to the sound of the cars going by. That is home to me. By Madelyn Huizing, grade 5
