More than a Building

More than a Building My house is a building, but that's not all it is. When I open the door a warm feeling rushes over me, a reminder that kindness and joy are waiting inside. In the kitchen I remember all the meals I've had at the table, but they were celebrations! Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving all at one table. In the living room I see pictures of my family. It’s like stepping into a time machine and visiting the best moments in my life. Seeing all of them feels like a blanket of happiness wrapping around me. In my room I think of nights when I felt sad or frustrated, but my family was always there to comfort me. And when I drift to sleep at night I think of all the thrills of the day's events. Outside is like a storybook. A new page of our adventure waiting to be told. From baking mud cakes and finding toads, to flying on the trampoline, we always have something new to discover. Through the years I see me and my family share laughter, love, and memories. I think a home should be where you can be free to express yourself, have adventures, and enjoy family. So I think a home is where family is, and all the special things in our lives are. Special things like these are more home than a house will ever be. I’m so grateful for organizations like Habitat for Humanity because they create homes like mine for people everywhere.
