What Home Means to Me
If we open a dictionary, we will find two words: house and home. A house refers to the physical building or a place to live and home refers to a house with people in it. But we will never find the true meaning of home in a dictionary because home is different for everyone, and here is what home means to me.
Home is a very special place where memories are created with the people I love. To me, home feels like a photo album. Every memory is like a picture I carry in my heart, no matter where I go. There are memories of birthdays and festivals, playing and sometimes fighting with my little brother, lots of laughter, smiles, arguments, my mom’s cooking, and even silly moments. All of these memories make home feel alive.
Home is also where my imagination comes to life. I love writing stories, painting (sometimes even on the walls!), and crafting. Even though I make a big mess, my family cheers for my every creation. That makes me feel like the possibilities are endless.
Home is where I feel happy, loved and be myself without worrying about what others think. This is especially important when I am having a rough day, because I know when I am at home I will be listened to, understood, and guided. This makes me calm and confident and ready for a new day
I believe everyone deserves a home where they feel loved and truly belong, no matter how big or fancy it is. I thank Habitat for Humanity for doing an amazing job helping people find a place to call home. This competition has brought me to remember how lucky I am to have a home.
