Home is more than a Building
My home is more than a building.
It holds more than books and toys, it holds the memories inside.
It holds the cold rainy days, it holds the days the sun would shine.
It holds days, good and bad.
It holds the times you were happy or sad.
It shows the kindness you’ve shone.
It shows the anger you’ve experienced.
It shows it all, every single bit.
All the photos on the walls show memories.
All the art work we have done shows feelings deep within.
On the outside it’s like any other.
The whole house filled with my sister's toys.
The living room is full of board games we play.
The kitchen where my mom and dad cook the food we eat.
My room has art and a bed where I rest.
But the best place is where my family is.
My home is the space that feels safe.
It holds a feeling deep within.
The joy, the happiness.
Anger and more.
It’s the place I never want to leave.
Before I thought house and home were the same.
I thought it was just a different word for saying the building you live in, but now I feel, see, and understand the difference.
This is the meaning of home for me.
Mine is probably different from yours, and yours is probably different from the rest of the world.
Thank you Habitat For Humanity for all the work you’ve done to make the world a better place.
