A Home, A House, A Heart
What is home? For me, home is a place where I can run away, love myself and be loved. It is a place to let go of your stress and worries. When I am home, I feel safe and comfortable to be exactly who I want to be. At home I can truly be who I am without hiding my imperfections.
I like to pretend my home is like my closest friend. I just love the thought that I can tell the walls my secrets like it’s my journal, forever locked up, hidden, and never being told. It is a place to express myself and do the things I love without being questioned.
I sometimes think about moving out of my home when I’m older and leaving behind this place that makes me feel so safe. Just thinking about this hurts, but I remind myself that when this home is gone, I will have a new one. And even though it means leaving the memories behind in this house, I can make new ones in my own home.
My house may just be a place to relax, but it also holds so much importance. I am not just the only one who lives in my home, so does my family and their memories alongside mine. This house I live in doesn’t just hold furniture, it also carries love and safety, which seem to be the heaviest thing to hold.
My house has kept me out of the rain and snow, but my home has kept me out of the fear and loss that I could be facing without this place.
