What Home Means To Me

Home is the feeling of comfort and the feeling of safety. Home is a place where I can be myself and not be judged. Home is a roof over my head and food in my belly. A house is just the structure. The wood, the cement, the metal and the appliances. A house is cold, dark and empty, but a home is warm, bright and filled with love. Home is the smell of freshly baked goods and the sound of birds chirping for the first time in spring. Home is the feel of soft blankets surrounding me when I'm cold. Home is the taste of homemade meals everyday and the view of the city skyline one direction and fields in the other. I get so sad when I think of all the people around the world who don't have a home or even a house and I hope that Habitat for Humanity can change that. Home is a safe place, one where I can find a reassuring hug and maybe some wise words when I am out of line. Home is a place where memories are made, where I live, and where I feel safe. A house is just a building sitting and waiting for someone to come along and make it a home which is the carpets, the furniture, the laughter, the love, and the family that lives within it. Home is the feeling of comfort. Walking in after a long day at school with either family to greet me, or just the home itself. When I lie in bed each night, I feel comfort knowing that I have a bed to sleep in, and that I can sleep in peace without having to worry about anything. Home is comfort, home is security, home is love.
