My Home is a Flashlight
To me, my home is a flashlight; it helps me see even when there is no light, making sure I'm safe for whatever is ahead, like my parents who assist me in life and make sure I make good decisions. My home makes me feel happy by comforting me when I'm down. My home isn't just a building, it's full of happiness, memories, love, respect, and unity.
When I first moved into my parents’ new apartment, I was super excited. All I saw were new, fun opportunities. I had already started planning out what my room would look like! It got even more interesting when we started to furnish it. Furnishing the apartment was a team effort; we all decided on which one to choose: the couch, the dining table, and chairs. Even the accessories for the kitchen were chosen together. It was a team effort, a true family moment I remember.
When the house was fully furnished, it wasn't “Pinterest worthy” but it felt like home. The scent of Tropical Breeze air freshener filled the air as bacon sizzled on the pan in the kitchen. That was my dad and I making breakfast together. It was my first time making bacon and eggs and he was assisting me. My home is like a cake with layers of love, new experiences, and respect for one another.
My home is a flashlight. My parents guide me like a flashlight. My memories help me find things and help me appreciate what I have. A flashlight can help you discover new things that lead to new experiences. You need a flashlight just like you need a home. I love my home.
