Home is a shelter

Home is a shelter that protects me from rain. It keeps me warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It’s a place that lets me take care of my body. I can have a shower, I can wash my hands and I can brush my teeth. I can sleep comfortably in my bed. I enjoy the feel of the soft carpet under my feet and the warm blankets on the couch and bed. Home is a place where I can connect with my family. We can play video games, board games, and card games together. We can play ping pong, darts, floor hockey, have Nerf wars and do puzzles. It is also a place to eat. I can eat popcorn and other food that tastes really really good. Popcorn and bacon smells fill the living room during dinner time. It is a place where I am safe to try new foods and enjoy my favourites, like waffles, pizza, bacon and popcorn. Home is a place where after a big game or recital I can unwind. It is a place where I can relax. Where I can sit on a couch or lay on a bed. Where I can cheer for my favourite team. Home is a place which is a safe space for criticism and feedback. It is a place to celebrate successes and achievements. Where I can feel how I want to feel, feel welcome, and feel serene and calm. It is a place where I can be supported in anything I do. Where I can do what makes me happy. Home can be one, two or even three places. Where I have a space of my own and space that I share with my family. It is a place where I can love and feel loved.
