H.O.M.E

High above my head, there is a roof. It makes me feel grateful for having a roof to protect me from all sorts of weather, from flurries to blizzards. It makes me feel safe and warm. Overjoyed is what I feel after school, at activities on weekdays and weekends. I feel overjoyed to let my dog out of his kennel so that I can give him treats and scratch under his chin. My room is where I can feel all my feelings when I come in and see either a clean room (which makes me feel happy,) a messy room (which makes me wonder why I haven’t cleaned it yet,) or a room full of boxes (which makes me remember that i'm moving soon, but don't worry I’m not switching schools.) Excited is what I feel whenever I see my book waiting for me on my dresser, the bed either with my dog on it or just the blanket and pillows without anything on them. I feel excited whenever I smell supper being made when I'm really hungry, or when I can taste my nan's macaroni whenever I stay over there for supper. Thank you for habitat for humanity, for letting people feel all this and more, for letting people know what it feels like to have a home.
