Home Sweet Home

My cottage has magic. As soon as my parents saw it, they needed it and let's just say my family has grown to love it. I've grown to call it home. I'm writing about my second home that, if possible, I like even more than my first one. My sister Kayla and I share the bedroom with the bunkbed and another twin-sized bed for sleepovers. Kayla and I share a lot of things at the cottage. Here are some of our favourites (I made a poem for each one inspired by William Carlos Williams): The Climbing Tree So much depends upon the great big climbing tree. It gives me hope and keeps me safe and warm, with nature all around. The Reading Nook So much depends upon my little reading nook by the stove, very cozy with warm blankets and filled with books. The Big Rock So much depends upon the big rock, sturdy and strong. Thoughts from the past, that seems so long ago, swirl around the big rock. All of the seasons at the cottage are special. Winter: snow is everywhere, all over the forest making the pines and evergreens look like they’re right out of a fairy tale. Spring: rain falling everywhere, making the flowers grow. When it stops raining, you can go outside and breathe in the extra fresh air. Summer: the sun's shining as you take a swim in the nice cool lake. Fall: leaves are falling and your neighbours volunteer to rake them all in a pile. When they do, you can play and throw them up in the air. The cottage is special to me because, without it, I would be in the city all of the time and I wouldn’t get to listen to nature and think.
