The Perks of Home

Home is where the Battle of Troy took place. My fortress, more secure than the Trojan Horse - right in the middle. Home is where the Olympic Bobsled finals take place. In the yard outside my home. Home is wet socks on a warm floor after coming in from outside. Home is the crackling fire. The steam from my hot chocolate, rising and curling into shapes before vanishing. Home is long, leisurely naps as the sun beams in. Home is the extraordinary aromas: A plethora of tastes as I take a step into what feels like another world. Home is the sound of sizzling on the stove. Home is the clanging of pots. The chaos in the kitchen. The music while my mom and dad cook together. Home is Oma’s special meatballs that taste like my childhood. Warm and sweet. Home is a cozy bed, inviting and heavenly. As though I’m resting on a cloud after running a marathon. Home is everything here and so much more. Home is tradition. Home is food. Home is love.
