Where’s Home?
Clouds drifted in the dreamy blue sky.Caws of crows in the distance awoke a girl trekking on the sidewalk. Whispers filled her ear when she was close to her grandpa’s house. The autumn scent of leaf-mold and the icy breeze, that felt cold against her pale skin. The trickling of water signaled that she was close to her grandpa's house. A blue jay flew in front of the sun, and casted a shadow. A sorrowful seed sprouted in her heart. When she was at her grandpa’s house, she felt tranquility around her. No dogs barking, no chirps of songbirds. Only the sound of air, that made her go into her dreamy state. Warth air galed in her face as the door opened in her face. “Welcome home Lucy” A face appeared out of the light of his didn’t brighten her mood. “Why the long face?”He sat with her on the front porch. “Well, one of my classmates got a new house, and it’s big!” But our house. Her grandpa chucked. “When I used to live in a indigenous tribe, I didn’t have a house but it was my home. I lived in a vast place, where the scent of life filled the place. I remember the feelings it gave me to run on those endless moor, where the bison run. Look at the fish, they live in the water. They are still happy , even if they don’t have a house. Look at the bird who flies elegantly in the sky, there is no house in the sky but a home..”Sometimes you don’t know what a real home is” he said. They sat on the porch while the sun whispered a good bye, as the moon lifted above them.
