A Home is a Cup of Hot Mint Tea
My home is a place that makes me feel safe. If I didn't have my home, I would feel lost in the desert, even when I was standing on the cold streets of Halifax. It makes me feel like I'm swimming in a cup of hot mint tea. But sometimes my home is sad, but my family helps me.
I see the blanket forts that we made for movie night. My siblings are laughing and giggling in the forts, and they ask me to play, I say “Of course!”.
I hear the oven go “ding”, my little erasers that I made are ready.
When I go to sleep, I feel safe and warm, because my beautiful tie-dye blanket is on me, and my loving neighborhood is here for whatever happens.
I smell the warm cinnamon applesauce that my dad makes. It's entirely homemade, and it tastes so yummy. It makes me feel loved and snuggly inside.
I taste the warm chocolaty air from the hot chocolate warming up. I'm so grateful to have a home to warm up from when I'm coming in from a snowy day. To have a neighborhood full of friends that makes me feel safe when I go to sleep at night.
My home is also a dance studio, full of friends and a history of fun.
My school feels like a home. I love school, and I love learning, playing, and finding new games to play and new atrategies to solve math problems.
Homes can be anywhere, they make you feel loved, comfortable and special. That's why Habitat for Humanity helps people.
My neighborhood friends and I also like to help out people who are experiencing food insecurity. We do a yearly food drive and we usually get two cars full of food. That's my home.
