My meaning of Home

I know I’m loved and safe within my home, for me that feeling of safety and belonging is what make a home. A pat on the back, or annoying each other, that’s what my family does that makes me feel loved! And that’s home to me. The love that tends to be in my house is typically expressed in the form of play fights, jokes, and just giving complements to a family member. My family also expresses love within my home is games, like hide and seek or sometimes board games! All these reasons are why I feel loved in my home, and apart of why I’m able to feel relaxed inside of my house. I am also lucky to feel safe in my house. However, the reasons why I feel safe because my parents would always wake up quickly if someone broke in or a fire started and help me and/or my sister. Plus, I’ve gotten incredibly fortunate with the placement of my house and where my rooms are within the house. I also have two dogs at my dad’s house that would alert me and my dad of danger or just my brother preparing for work. A home may mean to some a structure of peace, a place to escape. To someone else it could be a room with others having fun. Sometimes a home is a person, living and breathing. I know for me it’s a space to escape the world and decompress from the stress of socializing! Sometimes a home is a house, maybe because of the familiarity, or even the fact it provides shelter if someone previously went without. My ideas of home are different from yours, and yours is likely different then the one beside you. Thank you for reading.
