Home is Not Just a Building

To me home is not just four walls and a roof, home has so many different feels and is so many places so much I can't even count, but what I can say is it is where I feel safe and warm inside and out. Home feels like my dogs soft fur on her side and coarse fur on her back against my skin and my dog licking me and sniffing like a TSA security guard when I walk into the house. It feels like my family giving me the tightest hugs possible. Home is a place where I taste my moms delicious pasta, my dads tasty steak and corn on the cob, my sister's yummy baking, my Nana's refreshing smoothies, my mémré’s warm chicken and vegetable soup and my grandma's awesome roast beef dinner with her famous mustard pickles. From the smells of the ocean and campground campfires to the smell of my family's cooking, all of those smell like home to me. Through my eyes my grandpa Jackie's little yellow fishing boat and my dog's wagging tail bring me so much comfort I can't even say. Home looks like my Nana and Grampy’s long driveway and piles of fallen leaves at their house. Home sounds like laughter that goes on forever and ever. It sounds like my dog's clicky, clacky nails on the hard floor and my mémré’s dog barking up a storm. You can feel so many different ways in a home. Home is not just a building, it is a place where all should feel and be safe.
