I'll Miss Home
Hi, I am Layla! My parents and I, along with my six siblings are currently living in Winnipeg, Manitoba. But we’re moving to a new house in Ottawa.
I’m really sad because I don’t want to leave my old home to go to a new home, because my home is where I’ve made so many memories… It’s where all my friends are, it’s where my family is, it’s where I’m most happy, it’s where I got my first puppy named snowball, it’s where me and my mom would bake cookies together, it’s where me and my siblings would play hide and go seek, tag, card games. It’s where I would read for hours in my room, it’s where I would have sleepovers, it’s where I forced my older brother’s to play dress up with me, it’s where I had my favourite food for the first time, its where I had my birthdays. But my mom said we must go because dad got a new job and it’s all the way in Ottawa, but it could be exciting, I mean it’s a new start! But I will always miss my old home.
Soon enough, my family and I have made it to our new house, and… It didn’t look like home, it didn’t feel like home, it didn’t smell like home, it didn’t hold all those memories that I made at my old home. But that made me realize that I could make it all those things and make new memories and friends.
Six years passed and Layla was now sixteen, and had made lots of memories in the new house and it started to feel like home. Layla liked her new home but will always remember her old home.
I hope this story teaches you the difference between a house and a home. A house is just a building, but a home is where you have memories, good and bad.
