May May's Life
Hi, my name is May, but most people call me May May. I live with my dad, and it's kind of awesome, but when I was 3 years old, my mom died in a fire saving people's lives. Mom, why would you choose such a dangerous job? Still, I’m proud of her—the people she saved did survive, but unfortunately, my mom didn’t.
Home is really important to me. I was born in Texas, and that's where I grew up. I have a best friend; she is my childhood friend, and again, I love her so much. She's practically my sister. Even though I live in Florida now, Texas will always feel like home to me.
Just so you know, I’m fourteen now, and when I was ten, I moved to Florida. I was so lonely because my friend is still there! Her name is Aubree, but most people call her Aubs. Honestly, I miss home because I learned my first somersault—without a spotter, by the way!—and it wasn't with a spot either. Yeah, and I also learned my first back tuck, and I really want to see Aubs so badly! I have a competition this Friday, and guess what? My friend is coming to Florida on Thursday!! I’m so excited to see her; I can’t wait! But I want to go to Texas, and Aubs is coming here instead. Still, I want to go back to Texas because I remember when I came back from Pre-K, I would smell freshly baked cookies right out of the oven. It smelled so good!!
Home is so much more than just a place—it’s the people, the memories, and the feelings that make it special. Just so you know, home will always be a great place to be, no matter where I am.
