What is a Home?

The doorway is not just a creaky door, but the portal to home It’s paint might crack, chip, or peel, but the love will forever show The rusted handle holds love and memories, from times long ago The living room is always changing, “where to put the chair!” But the memories never leave, never change they’re always there The dining room is where family gathers for meals big or small Yes it’s a table, but also a welcoming place for all The kitchen, a place where food is made, and memories grow Mom makes dinner with loving hands, she cooks like a pro The stairs are a path to the level above, where your spirit will grow higher They are a mountain to climb, a royal carpet to walk, children’s dreams inspire My bedroom’s not my own, I share with my sisters A loving and understanding space, remove all the filters The bathroom where we clean ourselves, wash away the hate Time to relax, regenerate put yourself in a calming state The backyard, the funnest yet, where we play and learn Friends made, stories told, games played in turn A house has four walls, a roof, and a door A home has love, care, a place where feelings soar A house is built, but it can break But a home is forever, that’s no mistake
