The Meaning Of My Home

Have you ever seen someone sleeping on the street; I have. It makes me wonder ‘’why’’? why are they homeless and how did they get in this situation. When I see someone without a home it makes me appreciate the things I have like family dinners, camp and swimming. Those are some of the things that remind me of my home. Family dinners are a big part of my home. Every night I come home to a nice meal. On shabbat, family dinners are extra special, we light the candles Then we eat challah and chicken soup. Shabbat doesn't have to be at home but wherever it is it feels like home. Summer camp is also my home, but it is my home away from home. Every year I've been going to a camp called Bani’e Brith. At camp I have lots of friends but I only get to see them once a year. To get to camp we take the bus, but I take a boat to get to the camp docks. Camp isn't just my home away from home but is always the best part of my summer. Home doesn't have to be a physical house, for me swimming is my home. I love to swim. I’m on a swim team called Toronto Swim Academy. I like to swim in the summer but in the winter after I get out my hair freezes into icicles. I have one swim meet every month. Every meet coach tells me to try to get personal bests even if it’s a race I have never done before. The meaning of home can mean a lot of things. When I think of home I think of family dinners, camp and swimming. What do you think of when you think of home?
