Home to ME!

Home is a place where I can be myself. I have seven people in my family, my sisters Neveah, Grace and Faith, my Mom and Dad and my dog, Beans. Sometimes Beans runs away and we have to go and get him…on bike! I am the oldest. The big brother. I like helping at my house. My mom loves to bake and I help her out. So home is a place where I learn. Home is a place where I can go outdoors fishing with my family .We live in Charlottetown, Labrador. We go snowmobiling, ice fishing, we go walking sometimes, I go on bike and sometimes me and my cousin and my sisters go and get our friends. We like to play outside. Home is being active and enjoying the cold Labrador weather! We don’t mind it most of the time. Sometimes in the summer I go out in boat with my pop. His boat's name is “The Sea Girl “ . He took me out once and we went cod fishing. I am learning how to fish and hunt, like my ancestors did. I go to school and sometimes I try to race Mom in the car and I win. I run all the way and beat her. In school we are reading Varjak Paw. It’s about cats and about family. The Elder Paw sacrificed his life so Varjak could try and save his family. I like it so far. I live in a nice community. It is full of traditions and culture that we don't want to forget. That is why we are even trying to learn Inuktitut. I love my home and my community. It feels safe and it's where my family and friends are…and that is what home is to me.
