The Meaning of Home
Home isn’t just shelter. It’s a place where dear ones live, where you can be yourself, and somewhere that will comfort you when times get rough.
It is filled with warmth and love, and my beloved people.
Home is where I can eat to my heart’s content; where the delightful aromas of the samosa waft in the air and savoring the traditional foods that go long back. It’s where I can celebrate my differences without being judged.
Sometimes the world is a scary place. My home safeguards me like a mother bear shielding her cubs with love. It is a place where love is exchanged. It’s about the memories made, from my first baby steps to my accomplishments.
Small or big, what makes a house a home is the care, love, and trust among family members. It’s love that makes a home truly alive.
No other place truly expresses me, nor does any place hold as much as my home does.
Home’s where I can cherish my culture; proudly wearing silk attire and giving gifts to loved ones.
My home is where I was raised; the floor creaking with memories and pictures of my family displayed on walls like stars.
Home is where hard work happens, as my parents worked hard to achieve what they have now and I care a lot about it. It is the place where we can be ourselves, it’s something I’ve worked hard for, making memories of my parents' culture.
A home may be taken for granted, but it’s priceless. Without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Everyone deserves a home.
Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping build homes, and helping me to realize what home really means.
