Home is Where the Heart is
Home is a place to grow, to thrive, to love and to be loved. Love is the anchor, the true meaning of home. Love and home look different for everyone. Home for me is my Tante’s strong hugs and my uncle’s smelly farts. Home is the feeling in my heart when I laugh with my mom or when me and my little sister laugh uncontrollably and no one else knows why. Home is my dad’s silly made up songs and my cousin’s late-night reading. Home is when my older cousins take us (me, my other cousin and my little sister) to the park. Home is playing cards at recess with my best friends, even when I lose. Every. Time. (Almost) Home is the memories you make with the people you love. Home is not a house, because if it was you would be so far away from it so much of the time. You could lose it to a leaky faucet, an electrical bill or a forgotten stove top. That could all happen, if home was a house. But home is not a house. Home cannot be taken away that easily. Home will always be with you and near, because home is love and love never falters or fails.
Thank you, Habitat, for Humanity for making places to grow, to thrive, to love and to be loved.
