What Home Means To ME!

Home is a place to clear my mind, where the wind is flowing through the balcony. As a kind of Canadian I want to tell you my story. I was born in Nigeria on a sunny day. It would feel like you were on the sun and somehow, I was fine with it. My best friend (in Nigeria of course) was like my sister. Even though we weren't blood related, I always felt a connection to her. Then little by little Nigeria became more dangerous, there were more bad guys, and more accidents. It was not safe. My mom couldn't risk staying there. so we booked our flight, packed are bags, said are goodbyes and set off on our journey. It was a very long journey. After the first flight we had to find a hotel, and we stayed for just one night. Then we took a second plane and had to find another hotel. Then we went on a third plane and finally we got to Canada. You might think I was happy to come to Canada, but sometimes I miss Nigeria. Even though it has been two years since we were in Nigeria, I still think about my house in Nigeria. It was not just somewhere you live in, it was a home where I felt safe, loved and supported. Even though my mom food does not taste the same as it did in Nigeria, I still try to enjoy it. Sometimes I wonder what would’ve happened if we didn’t come to Canada.
