Where we belong
In all of our homes,
We feel safe and respected
A place to belong,
Together are connected
A home is not a house,
It can be big or small,
It marks our start,
It’s where we learned to crawl
We sometimes forget,
What it means to have a home,
To be loved truly,
In the protected dome
And when we take a step,
Towards the unknown,
Without our guarding shield,
We feel alone
The same sweet smile,
Cradling us to sleep,
Is now the only thing in the world,
You would wish you could keep
The words whispering again and again,
Constantly in your mind,
“ I love you, sweetheart”
These words you could never find
No matter the distance,
Home will always be near,
In the laughter of friends,
In the warmth we hold dear
We take for granted,
What it means to have a home,
To be loved truly,
In a protected dome
To have a family,
And surrounded by love,
Is a blessing you receive,
From wherever above
No one deserves to live in despair
No one should drift, feeling so lost,
No one should suffer and cry on their own,
We deserve a home no matter the cost
In every corner of the world,
Some fight just to survive,
Dreaming of a safe space,
Where hope can truly thrive.
Millions of people face poverty,
Let’s help them find their home,
Thank you Habitat of Humanity,
To help them build their dome!!
