What is a Home?
What is a home? A home isn’t always a building. What matters is what’s inside that building. A home is somewhere you can feel comfy, cozy, and most importantly, safe. Just a house isn’t always somewhere you belong and you might not feel safe there or it’s not familiar to you. It’s just a structure and nothing special. What makes a house a home is that a home is a place filled with the people you love, like your parents and your siblings. Home is a feeling you get when you're somewhere you love. A good home is where you belong, it’s a place you admire and want to live in.
Unfortunately because of wars and natural disasters, people aren’t always safe in their homes anymore. For these unfortunate people and really anyone who is homeless, houses are important. Houses protect them from danger. People feel nostalgic for their houses and homes if they have lost them. Now, this is a sad situation.
There are expressions that people use when they talk about home. You often hear people say, “make yourself at home.” They want the person they’re talking to to feel comfortable. Another expression is “home sweet home”. Maybe people say that because they miss their home where they had lots of fun. They may have made many memories too. They don't want anything about their home to change.
I think a home is really just somewhere you belong, somewhere you love, and somewhere that feels like the best place you can live.
