Home is my Heartbeat
Home is the melody of every day,
The smell of food and the games we play.
It’s my family’s voices, good and strong,
Speaking French, where I belong.
It’s the sound of songs in the air,
And drums that pound when we celebrate and share.
It’s volleyball enthusiasm, the joy of the game,
And Roblox adventures that’s never the same.
Home is six hearts beating as one,
Through giggles, effort, and moments of fun.
At 11 years old, I’m learning to lead,
helping my siblings and planting a seed.
Home is where faith lights the way,
Where we pray, and give thanks every day.
God’s love keeps us nice, and strong,
With hope and pride to carry us along.
Home is a mix of cultures and pride,
Cameroon’s roots and Canada by my side.
It’s freezing winters and family meals,
A home of feelings, where everyone heals.
But I know not all have what I do,
A safe, warmed place that feels so true.
I think of a world where all can find,
A home of warmth, both safe and kind.
Home is my anchor, my starting line,
A place of tradition, faith, and time.
And as I grow on, I hope to see,
A world where home is for all, like me.
