Home in a Story
There was once a little girl named Tegan who was very curious. She asked lots of questions and had a million things floating around in her head. When she went outside for recess at school one day, she went to ask her friends a big question, “What does home mean to you?”
She asked her friend Avery, “What does home mean to you?” Tegan was anxious to figure out what her friends thought.
“To me, home is the rink because I know that I am safe there,” answered Avery.
“Thank you so much Avery!” said Tegan excitedly.
Tegan wasn't sure she understood yet though, so she went to ask her friend Sloan what home was to her.
“Hey Sloan, what does home mean to you?” asked Tegan, curious to see if her friends would have different answers.
“To me, home is my house because I feel loved, safe and welcomed. I do lots of crafts and do fun things at home,” replied Sloan.
“Thank you Sloan,” Tegan said.
“No Problem,” said Sloan.
Tegan finally knew what home meant to her.
“When I think of home I think about the smells, feels, and tastes. When I walk into my house after school and I smell the delicious smells of supper starting to be made. I hear my dad working in the workshop making fun things for friends or family. I know that I am safe at home and I have fun at home. Me and my mom do crafts and go on adventures in the woods by my home. I have someone to comfort me at home, someone to help with what's happening. I know I'm loved at home and I feel welcomed as soon as I walk in the door. That is home to me.”
