Did We Have to Move?
California was perfectly fine. Our old house was amazing. Maybe I could convince my mom Canada was too cold? “Callie we are almost there.” said my mom. My dog, coco perked up at those words. “But the moving truck isn't coming for an hour.” I let out a groan. “Mom, did we have to move?” “No but- Callie can't you be as excited as I am?” “I get to have a new job, and you have a great school.” she said as she turned into our new driveway. “Well, you go explore the house, I'm contacting the moving service; if we want to be ready by 7:00 pm we need it in 30 minutes.” Said my mom dialing the moving service numbers. The wispy willows that lined the sidewalks swayed towards the house. “Sure.” I said. I was grateful, but not excited. Our old house could never be replaced.
My bedroom was nothing more than my old bed and desk, with some fake plants (real plants wouldn't survive). And by 6:00 we had most of our house done. My mother declared it was movie night tonight. But all I wanted to do was cover myself in blankets and sleep. But I was forced into going on the couch. As the T.V came to life and my favorite actress came into scene my mother put her arm around me. And at that moment I felt something warm in my heart. And I realized a difference. A house was a building something manmade. But a home. A home was something from the heart and being with the people you love. And that could never be replaced.
