Meaning of Home

I love my home. Home is more than where I live, it is where I feel most comfortable, most safe. Home is unlike any other place. I walk in and I can feel the warmth on a cold winter day, I can feel the coolness brush against my face as I walk in on a hot summer day. I can smell my mom’s cooking, the smell of bacon and rice meaning that dinner is going to be fried rice. I can see the couch where my toy is sitting with a cozy pillow and blanket. I can see my dad in his study working on his computer, frowning in concentration. I can hear my sister laughing and shouting over the phone. I feel the fireplace’s heat as I sit on the couch to watch TV and enjoy chocolate fudge ice cream and oranges. I go to the basement, walking on the stairs that are soft, covered in a big carpet. As I walk down, I see photos of me and my sister making funny faces and smiling in different places around the world. I feel the cold wooden floor beneath my feet smelling freshly mopped, I can hear the echoes of my voice. I see the big puzzle of a bear amusement park, and my dad working on it. I see artwork drawn and painted by my mom, the legos she built, and magazines she reads. I see the kitchen in the basement neatly organized. I feel the guest’s bed in the basement smelling of my grandparents and aunts who visited. I walk upstairs and smell freshly washed clothes in the laundry room. I see my mom putting clothes in the dryer, my sister half asleep lying on her bed, and I walk towards my room. I smell my fresh clothes in a basket by my closet, my blanket soft and comfortable, my pillow in perfect texture. I sit on my white, spotless bed and stare at my artwork on a white shelf in front of my bed, with photos with my favourite memories including horse riding, petting alpacas, etc. I see my study, full of colourful decorations. The high shelf reached the ceiling displaying my favourite books, the picture book filled with photos of me and my best friend. Home is filled with joy, love, and memories I bring with me. There is no place like home.
