The Home I Know
When I get home from school, I open the garage door and I hear my cats running down the stairs with their little paws to greet me. I start to smell the roasted chicken my mom was making for dinner. I thought,
“This is the home I know.”
I start to feel calm and safe as I walk up the stairs to my bedroom. I see the shining sun in the window, it shines on my cozy, soft, comfortable bed. I touch my squishy stuffed animals and my fluffy cats as I walk by to go downstairs.
When I get downstairs, I wait for my mom to finish cooking, so I draw some cute characters I saw on the internet like a cute little shark cartoon, I draw it with my favorite sharp pencil. I hear the floor creaking as I walk. When I eat dinner I can taste the chicken and my glass of water.
After dinner I plop myself onto my couch and watch some Brooklyn Nine Nine, my favorite TV show. Once it’s 9:00-9:30pm my parents tell me that it’s time for bed, so as I walk upstairs I stop to look at the giant window right in the middle of my stairway, and I stop to look at the night sky one last time before I go to bed. The night sky glows with the beautiful stars dancing around in the night sky putting on a show for all that can see them. I walk to my cozy warm bed and as I start to drift off I remember that...
“This is the home I know.”
