What Home Means To Me

Home is unconditional love. Love from the dogs when I am greeted at the door. Love from my parents when they ask me how my day was. Love from my siblings and step siblings when we drop our bags at the door and run to get a snack or play. Home is a feeling, not just a place. A feeling of always being supported and supporting the ones that I care about. Support that extends beyond the house to the yard, park, arena, and beyond. Home is stepping in from the brisk fall air as dinner is cooking and knowing exactly what my Dad means when he says “smells like a home”! Home is always sitting down at the dinner table together and enjoying the company of the ones you love. Home is a feeling of always knowing you’re safe, protected, supported, loved and you can show your emotion anywhere. A house is just walls and a lot of rooms. A house is just a structure like an apartment and a restaurant and beyond and the house may shelter through a storm .
