My Home Is With Me
7 years ago I had just arrived in Canada everything was unfamiliar to me, even the air was different. I was scared and nervous, people all around me were speaking English, but for me they were speaking gibberish. I looked around as my mom picked me up and took me to a blue square shaped building. The building had windows and doors, things I had never seen in my country.
Back in my country it was very dirty, rats would steal your food and you would have to boil the tap water just to make sure the water was clean. The houses were barely houses and the only public transportation was a poorly built bike. But here in Canada you didn't have to boil the water, all the food was secure. Even the shower water was drinkable, we could ride cars and our house didn't collapse during the storms. Things I had never experienced. Things that I had never done or seen before.
Here I am very grateful for the people who have helped me and my family get on the path that has led us to safety. That has also led me and my family to the amazing people I now know. And all the traveling has made me realize home is wherever you are no matter where you live. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for helping those when they need it, thank you very much.
