Meaning of Home

A house is a structure of wood and stone, But home is a place where you feel truly known. But home has comfort in the air, It’s where you can live without a care. A house could be pretty or ugly, But a home has love that cannot be seen. Houses can be big or small, But a home is the most important thing of all. A house can be new or old, and old ones may rot, But a home has comfort that certainly cannot. A house may have pretty windows, But a home has memories that cannot be smashed. A house can look different from another house, But one home feels the same as another home. A house is always a house and can be taken away, But a home is a feeling that cannot leave today. Big thanks to Habitat for Humanity for giving me the opportunity to write about the meaning of home and help someone else get a house and home of their own.
