When I Was Young in Winnipeg
When I was young in Winnipeg we lived in a small condo but big enough to fit me, my dad, my mom, my sister, my tita, my tito, and my cousins. I think my tita was still looking for a house but I’m unsure since I was never told.
When I was young in Winnipeg we would eat cereal or egg and rice, and sometimes I would watch how my cousins would eat eggs because they would eat it in different ways. I thought it was cool.
When I was young in Winnipeg I’d run downstairs to play with my Barbies but I’d try not to skip a step and fall.
When I was young in Winnipeg I would go to my room to play with toys or to watch TV, since the adults would stay upstairs and I didn’t want to hear them talking.
When I was young in Winnipeg I’d help by doing chores, like cleaning up my toys or by setting the table and making my bed. Since I was only 6-7 years old, I was too young to help around with a lot of chores .
When I was young in Winnipeg my mom would take pictures of me or record my “amazing” singing. She taught me a lot of songs and I loved singing when I was 7.
When I was young in Winnipeg we’d go to a church near our house. It was still a driving distance away but it was close to our house.
When I was young in Winnipeg I would wake up to the sound of my dad snoring, since he snores really loud, or oil sizzling when my mom was cooking because she had to make us dinner.
When I was young in Winnipeg I’d lay down on my side of the bed to relax while my mom and tita were talking.
When I was young in Winnipeg, I never wanted to move to the UK, I never wanted to move to the US, I never wanted to move to India. For this is where I was from, from where I most belong, and where I feel like me.
