If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know winter, you just can’t know winter. The winter here is so cold we usually stay inside all day. When you go outside you can easily get frostbite, you need ski pants, jacket, gloves, a hat and a scarf to not feel cold. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know winter. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know the wind, you just can’t know the wind. While waiting outside it’s hard to stay in place, the strong wind blows you out of place. Sometimes, you have to hold onto something so you don’t get blown away. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know the wind. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know snow, you just can’t know snow. It’s never a snow day. No matter how high the snow is, no matter how cold it is, school is barely cancelled. You always have to wear gloves if you want to touch something outside because there’s always snow on top of it. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know snow. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know mud, you just can’t know mud. In spring when it rains, it’s muddy everywhere. Mud gets inside because when people go outside mud gets stuck on their shoes. In summer, sometimes people bring water guns so the water makes the dry dirt into wet mud. In winter, when it gets a little warm, lots of the snow mixes with the dirt underneath it, so it turns into muddy snow. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know mud. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know food, you just can’t know food from here. In the morning if you make pancakes or waffles you can put maple syrup on top and in my opinion maple syrup is better then regular pancake syrup. Also, in some shops there are maple syrup lollipops called sap and they’re delicious. You know what else is delicious? Poutine. The crispy fries, melted cheese curds and the hot gravy is SO delicious. You can get it at almost every restaurant. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know food. If you’re not from Winnipeg, you don’t know home, you just can’t know home. Winnipeg is my home, it’s where I was born and raised and to me it’s a familiar place.
