Home

Home is like a warm hug On a freezing winter night Making up and laughing Over a silly fight Putting food together in a pan And pretending to be cooks Relaxing on my sisters bed, Gossiping over books Holding hands and talking About things that make us cry Pretending to be made up superheroes Ones that can read minds and fly Sneaking Nutella from the cupboard And sharing with my brother Bossing around my siblings And mom telling me “You’re not the mother!” Helping dad make pizza sauce And adding way more spices than told Telling the same jokes over and over Until they get old Playing guitar, trumpet, bass and piano Saying we should be a band Worrying about eating all the fruit chews Before the plane lands Insisting on sleeping in my fort And then waking up with a sore back Throwing my clothes on the floor Instead of hanging them up on the rack Sewing sock bunnies For each of my siblings birthdays Making sure everyone notices my new outfit And easily accepting their praise Complaining about school And drama with my friends Loving each other so much Until the very end.
