The Meaning of Home

Hi. My name is Wesley MacKinnon, and I’m here to talk about the meaning of home. Home to me is actually kind of odd. Home to me is my bedroom. Now, I know a bedroom is not really much of an odd thing, but my bedroom really is an odd place to call home. My bedroom is where I think up every last idea for my comic books. All 17 of my comics were thought up in my bedroom, and each one of my comics are weird and completely out of this world. But it’s not just comics, it’s games too! I like to make my own games so I can play them with my little brothers, who LOVE games. I feel like I’ve been disconnected from them a lot since Dad left, and that they’ve all gone off to do their own thing. So I’ve been trying to keep them close to me with one of their favourite things: games. Honestly, I can’t believe that, now that I’m 11 years old, I’ve only got at least 8 years left until I depart from my room, the place where I feel at home. This is the room where I read my first book, where I learned how to tie my shoes, and, heck, this is where my whole life played out. God, I don’t ever want to leave, but I know that one day I will end up leaving, one way or another. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have to grow up, that I could stay a kid forever, but that’s not how God intended it to be. So, when I grow up, I’ll have a new place to call home.
