What Home Means to Me
My beige house in Sidney B.C. is where my address is.
But it is the people and things in it and around it that make it my home in Sidney.
While I write this, I am on vacation in Mexico, far from the place I call home.
Home has your familiar climate, landscape and surroundings.
Here there are cacti but at home there are the strong towering evergreens.
The ocean in Mexico is warm but I will always appreciate the cold waters at home.
It makes me happy to be away but I know that my true source of happiness is at my home.
Home has my neighbours and friends and the food and traditions I am used to.
Being away and trying different foods and traditions is cool but it’s the ones at home that are truly special.
Halloween at home has candy, costumes, fireworks and fun, but in Mexico there is the Day of the Dead to pay respect and remember family members that have died.
Home is not just a house.
Home is happiness.
Home means love and safety.
A house may have sturdy walls and a nice roof but home has you.
