A home for me

Home means to have shelter, love, peace and protection. It keeps us safe and inspires us in many ways. It carries special memories. It gives us something to be proud of and it doesn't have to be pretty or big to hold value. I have lived in two houses in my life. My experiences in these places have inspired me in many ways. My memories in these spaces inspired my funny and joyful spirit and my imagination. I have lived in a house in a city as well as on a farm. My homes were very different, but they both felt like that was where I belonged especially because I had my family with me. When I think of home I don’t just think of it as a house, I think of the land around me. If the land where I live didn’t have a building on it, I would still call it my home. For me there are a lot of places on my farm that I enjoy like my tree house, garden, the dugout where we skate in the winter and the fields where we climb on bales. We make memories around the fire pit where we have roasted marshmallow contests with my friends, in open spaces where we gaze at the stars, in the orchard where I play with the cats, and in the trees around my yard where we go on secret missions. I find that when I have fun times with my family - wherever we where at that time - those memories are the ones we remember the most. Buildings will come and go, but the memories we make will last forever and that is what home means to me.
