Home is Where the Heart Is
Home is where the heart is
when your family is with you,
comforting you when you're sad,
and celebrating when happy things happen.
Home is where the heart is
when your house is warm inside.
When your family gives you a warm drink
and you snuggle warm into your blankets and read a book.
Home is where the heart is
when you feel happy with the things and people you love.
When you are playing board games with your siblings, when you are playing hide and seek with your cousins.
Home is where the heart is
when you're cozy, when you are sitting at the fireplace and telling people about your day.
Home is where the heart is
when you're cared for, when your parents tell you goodnight and good morning,
and when you ask your parents for help and they do help.
Home is where the heart is
when you have food on the table,
when you say you're full at the big Thanksgiving dinner and then a few minutes later you say you're hungry.
Home is where the heart is
when you feel loved when you are at home and eating the food your parents carefully made for you,
and when your parents say it's bedtime but you say “just a few more minutes!”
People around the world have homes like this, but lots of people do not. It's our job to help in every way we can. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for helping people across Canada build homes for homeless people.
