Four Walls Don't Make A Home
“Knock, knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Oh hi, come in.”
“Pardon?”
“You asked me what home means to me.”
"Well, home means a lot of things. Home means to me a place where warmth radiates from the walls, a place where holidays are celebrated and enjoyed, and that warmth is shared. Home is a place where family and friends can come over and make memories. Home is a place where birthdays are celebrated. Home is a place where memories are made and shared. Home has a love that can be given and received. Home is a place that is welcoming. Home is a place that is loving. Home makes you feel ecstatic."
"Habitat for Humanity, you asked? Yeah, I've heard of it. Here’s what I know about it: Habitat for Humanity is an organization that helps build homes for newcomers to Canada. The newcomers support the volunteers in building the homes. I am writing this to raise money for Habitat for Humanity and to compete for first place in raising a large amount of money.
I came to Canada 1½ years ago, and what Habitat for Humanity does is great because when I first arrived in Canada, we had to stay at a friend's house, then moved into an apartment, and later moved again into a townhouse. I could see how grateful a family like mine would be for a brand new house. What Habitat for Humanity is doing is wonderful because not everyone has a house they can call home. And that’s what home means to me.
