"From Shadows to Light: A Home Reborn"

My home in Uganda, a palace of pain, A vast mansion adorned with wealth, yet drowned in silent rain. Gold-lined halls could not conceal the sorrow in our eyes, Trapped beneath our father’s lies and murder attempts. A Member of Parliament yet love he could not give, His hands wove fear-how could we truly live? Our home, where echoes of our muffled cries were hymns of broken hearts. For thirteen years, we watched my mother bleed, A home where my father’s rage would rise, And my mother’s screams touched the skies. One day, he told me, my mother was dead, "A plane crash," he whispered, with a smirk so wide, A cruel lie, a blade to my head. I knew deep down, my mother was alive, And she did— she soared, she fled Uganda to Canada, With us in her arms, we crossed oceans, In Canada, a new home we’d find. Home is not where bruises bloom, Home is where my mother stands tall, Where love, not fear, fills these walls, From ashes of pain, she built a new home, A home of peace, strong and true, Built on God’s mercy and mother’s care. To those trapped where violence prevails, We send you love, we send you light. End domestic violence, let homes be free, let families thrive. Our home is sending you tales of homes reborn in dignity. Let violence fade, let peace abide, For a restless home leaves scars inside. Our home is a haven of love, bathed in light, so warm, so bright, Today, I stand with a heart so strong, Come, speak to my mother, She rose from the ashes, defying the pain. Help those fleeing domestic violence, uplift the bruised, Let hope be the light the wounded choose. With deepest thanks, my words take flight!
