Home: Beyond Four Walls
‘Home is where the heart is’ goes the popular saying.
I once lived in a home in another country, then it was time that we moved to Canada. When I first came to my new house, it was an apartment and the furniture was different, and my house was new, but my home had not changed. My home was the same because I still had my mom, dad and sister with me, which is what made my home.
My parents then decided it was time to move again within the city, as we had a chance to be in a townhouse which was bigger than my old apartment. We moved to a new house on a street where all the houses looked the same, but the more time I lived there, my house was not the same. I could smell the aroma of our cuisine of food cooking in our house, and I could see our decorations outside our house.
What makes a home for me are the things that I can eat and where I feel comfortable. I eat my mother's food and that makes a home for me. When I go on vacation it is very enjoyable and exciting, but it is not my home which makes it less fun. When I go home, I lie in the comfort of my bed. It feels even better than a hotel bed. A home can be a house, but a house is not always a home.
