What Is Home?
A house is really just a physical place, a man made building, just a cold structure made out of bricks and stone.
But a home is a place. A place of safety. A place of comfort. A place where you belong. Home is a place where you are loved, respected and known. A place where you can be you without fear of being hated. A place where your family is here. A place where your belongings are there, filled with the warm memories of loved ones and a sense of belonging.
A house is a place that can be rebuilt with ease. A structure that is meant to be rebuilt when damaged: A place where damage is always reversible.
But a home is a place where damage is unrepairable, unfixable, irreversible. Damaging homes is like traumatizing people, slaughtering minds.
A house is a strong, man made structure that protects people from the elements like rain or snow.
A home though, is a safe habitat that shields people from the stressors of life, a place where stress and worry just, fly, fly, away. A place where harm will just wither away and get lost time.
A house is a place where shiny furniture fills the cold lifeless rooms collecting dust and being lost to time.
A home though, is filled with the joy of family members, the cooking of delicious food, a place where happy memories will never ever be forgotten.
A house is a forgotten place, a place where people come and go do their things and leave. Just like any other structure.
A home though, is a place that is never forgotten.
This is what home means to me. It is a place that can never be forgotten. I will always remember my home.
