Home Is Where I'd Stay
As I approach the front door, I experience a rush of triumph and get the feeling to seize
The wind chimes play a merry tune and dances in the breeze
Leaves as green as limes or as red as fire makes me feel free of tense
Something near to symbolize my family and friends whether it's a mat or the fence
We crowd around the TV to watch movies or the big game
Our belongings get scattered after a while and nobody is to blame
The sofas warm embrace makes me feel at peace
A place where I can proudly wear my sweater made out of fleece
The kitchen is my favorite place, where scents and aromas start
I can bake or cook or watch my parents make food art
We enjoy our favourite meals without disgrace
I feel like I belong when I stuff my face
My walls are filled with art and medals
I don’t feel obligated to do anything so I let myself settle
Book and homework and coziness apply
And this is a special place where mustn't lie
This is where I relax and stay healthy and clean
Nobody watching or bugging me is to be seen
I scrub away my guilt and insecurities until they are out of sight
I don’t feel different even though others might
My memories are found mostly outside
Laughing and playing and having a sense of pride
My parents taking pictures and siblings chasing me around
Times where I practice volleyball has me lying on the ground
If it isn’t obvious enough, home is where I enjoy the day
I’m grateful I have somewhere like home to play
It’s filled with joy, kindness, and happiness– This is where I’d want to lay
I think everyone deserves a home to stay
