What home means to me

My Home is really special to me, not because of its grandeur and magnificence, but because of its safe, comfortable and positive atmosphere. Home is a place where memories are made and shared. With walls filled with pictures, not walls that are bare. I don’t want a grand, painted, picturesque home, instead one filled with love from family and friends. I don’t need a home with fragrance of lavender, and other beautiful things. but a home filled with the aroma of my mom’s cooking, traditions of my family and culture of my roots. Home is a delightful place, nice and warm like a big embrace. A comforting, bright, cheerful home has a positive impact, making us better individuals. No matter how large or small your home is, it ought to have the foundation of kindness, honesty, respect, laughter and selfless love. Home is a place where you can talk openly with your family, all private and safe. Here you won’t be judged or laughed at. It's a place where you could be yourself. Even if you do something wrong, everyone will comfort you, will understand your point of view and lead you towards the right path. If they scold you, your room will be a private spot, when you need to cry. Eventually they help you become a better human being, a responsible adult when you grow up. Home is not a place, it's a feeling. You could even live in a tent in the woods or a caravan. As long as you are with your loved ones, you can call it home and your heart will belong here. I am extremely grateful to have a home, and a loving family to care for me. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping all Canadians get the privilege of a home.
