This Is Home

This Is Home My little brothers wake me up saying, “Up Nina!! Wake up!! We are having pancakes!!” They say this to me almost every Saturday morning. I carry them upstairs to have some breakfast. I see my dad making bacon, toast, and pancakes. There is also syrup, fruit, whip cream and so much more on the table! My mouth waters and I can’t wait to dig in! Everyone is already up and eating. This is home. In the summer every morning we go outside to have some fun! We jump on the trampoline, go in the pool, play tag all together, play in the sprinkler, and so many more fun things! Usually after lunch we go for a walk, either just around the block, to the park or even on an adventure! Whenever I’m outside in my yard I feel free, I feel like I know what to do and how to do it, and most importantly I feel safe and loved! This is home. Every two summers my family and I drive to Thunder Bay Ontario. We drive in our eight person Ford Expedition we call “Big Mama”. There are eight of us in my family so it is very chaotic going all the way to Ontario! I’m the oldest of six children. We drove from Penticton all the way to Thunder Bay Ontario. It takes about four to five days. We stay in a lot of different hotels to get there. The reason we go is because we have family out there and they own a cabin, so we go out there every two years to go and visit them. We have an RV that we all sleep in when we are there, it is really big and AWESOME! They also own a boat so we usually go tubing, knee-boarding, fishing and just ride the boat for fun. We stayed at their cabin for five weeks, but on the way back we stopped at my Grandpa’s house. The kids sleep in the little RV they have and the adults sleep in the cabin with the youngest who is only two. I feel safe and loved when I’m back in my real home. This is Home. When I am at home I love to bake cookies, cupcakes, cakes and banana bread with my dad. Usually when I come back from dance I come home to a nice fresh homemade meal. I think to myself, “I am very fortunate to have a homemade meal fresh from the oven”. In my house I have my own room that has all of my stuffies, all my books, all my clothes, and all of my stuff. I usually go down there to get away from all the chaos in my house. When I am in my room I feel calm and I like to read my book in peace and quiet, and get a good night's sleep. This is Home. I feel very fortunate to have a house to sleep in, spend time with my family, eat, and bake delicious meals and so much more. This is Home.
