The Meaning of Home

The meaning of home is not just how big your home is, what it means is how much love and laughter is in your home. My house is just an average size house but all I care about is my family and how we are there for one another and comfort each other after a long day. For example, after a long day at school my family will sometimes play a card game called spoons. When it is time to grab the spoons and the one person doesn’t get one we all burst into gleeful laughter. The sound of the booming laughter that fills the house is a comforting feeling. This is an example of how important laughter is and how it makes a home a home. An example of the love in our house is every Friday after school my mom, dad, and 2 brothers have a movie night. I love It because we get to sit next to the glowing fireplace and cuddle in warm, cozy blankets and eat scrumtious popcorn while we watch a movie off of Disney Plus or Prime Video. The delicious smell of popcorn that floats through the air makes you think of the comforting feeling that being together with your family feels like. Being able to relax with your family makes you feel protected by the people that care for you. Finally, my favourite time of year is Christmas because you get to spend extra time with your family celebrating in that loving place that your family calls home. Trust me, playing Christmas carols on the piano, eating delicious treats and spending time with family that you don’t get to see very often is better than having a big house and lots of money. If the big house doesn’t have love and laughter from your family then your life would feel empty just like a giant empty house.
